Culture Medium: 85% RPMI 1640 medium with 2 mM L-glutamine adjusted to contain 1.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate + 10% heat-inactivated horse serum + 5% fetal bovine serum
Growth Property: small clusters, poorly adherent
SubCulture Procedure: Remove cells from substrate by pipetting over the cell sheet with fresh medium, by striking flask or by scraping. Aspirate cells in fresh medium with a small bore pipette to break up clusters (or pass the suspension several times through a 22 gauge needle
Freezed Medium: 93% culture medium + 7% DMSO
Medium Renewal: every 2 to 3 days

Description: Established from a transplantable rat adrenal pheochromocytoma; the cells respond reversibly to NGF (nerve growth factor) by induction of the neuronal phenotype; the cells synthesize and store the catecholamine neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrin.
Product Character: catecholamines; dopamine; norepinephrine
