Growth Property: Suspension; NOTE: The cells initially grow slowly after thawing (doubling time of 72 hours). Patience is required.
SubCulture Procedure: Addition or replacement of fresh medium
Freezed Medium: 93% culture medium + 7% DMSO
Seeding Density: 1-2 x 105 cells/ml
Medium Renewal: every 2 to 3 days

Description: this is a promyelocytic cell line derived from a 36-year-old Caucasian female with acute promyelocytic leukemia; the cells spontaneously differentiate and differentiation can be stimulated by butyrate, hypoxanthine, phorbol myristic acid (PMA, TPA), dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO, 1% to 1.5%), actinomycin D, and retinoic acid.
