Add 2% mannitol to Azotobacter Basal Medium and adjust pH to 7.6.
Azotobacter Basal Medium:

MgSO4·7H2O0.2 g
NaCl0.2 g
Agar15.0 g
Tap water900.0 ml
Soil extract (see below)100.0 ml
FeSO45.0 mg

Soil extract:
African violet soil77.0 g
Na2CO30.2 g
Distilled water200.0 ml
Autoclave for one hour. Filter through paper before using in media.

Final pH 7.2; adjust with crystalline K2HPO4 or KH2PO4 before adding agar. Add agar, heat medium to boiling to dissolve agar, and autoclave for 15 min at 121°C.
